Hardware Design Engineer

Role Overview

As a Hardware Design Engineer at Innovoltic, you will be responsible for designing, validating, and supporting embedded electronic hardware that is manufactured and deployed at scale.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex hardware systems and processes effectively.
• Ability to independently own and deliver complete hardware modules within complex design engineering systems.
• Proficiency in Bill of Materials (BOM) optimization, component selection, and cost-performance trade-off analysis.
• High proficiency in PCB design tools — Altium Designer and KiCad preferred; working knowledge of OrCAD/Allegro is an added advantage.
• Foundational understanding of Signal Integrity (SI), Power Integrity (PI), and EMI/EMC design principles.
• Experience in high-speed and RF PCB design, including impedance control, stack-up planning, and signal integrity optimization.
• Hands-on experience with embedded systems development environments, debuggers, and Software Development Kits (SDKs).
• Strong understanding of embedded system architecture, microcontrollers/microprocessors, and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
• Proficient in using laboratory and diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and other hardware debugging tools for design bring-up and validation.
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements applicable to custom PCBA designs, ensuring compliance with safety and quality norms.
• Exposure to Engineering Resource Planning (ERP) systems and basic mechanical CAD concepts is desirable.

Essential Functions

• Lead and contribute to end-to-end hardware design activities, from requirement analysis through design, validation, and manufacturing support.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including firmware, software, and mechanical engineering to drive product development from concept to production.
• Mentor junior engineers and design interns on best practices in circuit design, layout, validation, and documentation.
• Serve as a primary technical interface for customers, ensuring clear communication and alignment on project requirements and deliverables.
• Develop, test, and debug prototypes to ensure compliance with functional, performance, and reliability requirements.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive design documentation including schematics, layout files, test reports, and manufacturing documentation.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in electronics hardware design and development.
